Super Trendsetter was essentially an exercise in rapid prototyping, at least for me. During this 4 week game project I prototyped and made 9 different mini-game activities that you could do in the game out of roughly 12 total. These include everything from archery to drone flying and simpler ones like soccer or petting dogs.
The game is essentially a social media influencer simulator where the player has to partake in various activities to raise their social clout and following and in the process brighten up the dull and boring town of Bodenver. These systems are interacted with through the phone UI however many of the systems are unfortunately not implemented properly in the final game.
One of the broken systems was one that I made involving the town’s mayor, he will occasionally start boring and tedious events like a spectator sport where you look at pain drying and so on. The player is then incentivised to stop him to gain bonus followers by shooting off his hat with a water gun I also made. Unfortunately the game doesnt really tell you any of this because of the broken UI systems and minimal time we spent on tutorials.
Overall though the game project was a very fun learning experience.
